As I get older I have noticed myself becoming more and more eco-aware. From making sure I recycle properly to making sure I don’t over-heat my home. While I really do love the look of the ten houses and buildings you are about to see, I am not about to start making my own. But I thought it would be fun to look at them anyway…
Top 10 Homes Built From Recycled Materials
..
10 – Pallets
What a great way to start this post off. This beautiful home is simple stunning. Those pallet bench seats going around the outside of the house are just the best! Best of all you get build in decking!
9 – Cans
It looks almost like petals, but they this aluminium shingle is made from 22,00 soda and beer cans! All squashed down to create something rather unusual, if a little sharp to the touch.
8 – Egg Cartons
Not all the houses you see here are liveable, some like this one are just art installation exhibitions. This one made by Australia studio Goldenhen is life-sized and called “The Original Dream”. Sadly I couldn’t find out how many egg boxes it was made from, but I would image it would take a lot of eggs to fill it.
7 – Paper
You wouldn’t want to smoke inside this home! This is a 2,045 square-foot building made from over 550 paper bales! It was only temporary, but it looks amazing.
6 – Corks
If you thought making a home from bricks takes a long time, try making it from tiny corks! Not only is it environmentally friendly, but from a design perspective it is also aesthetically pleasing! I couldn’t find out how many corks it is made from or how long it took to build. But I would imagine it is lots on both counts.
5 – Plastic Bottles
Someone is going to have to drink an awful lot of Coca-Cola to make this home a reality. Even the bed, chairs and windows are made from! As an added bonus you can pick it up and move it where ever you need it to go.
4 – Windows
It would be a window cleaners nightmare, but in the summer it would let in all the light you could ever wish for! Just don’t go throwing anything around inside it.
3 – Sinks
I really do bring you everything including the kitchen sink. While this is just an extension of a building it is still made from recycled bathroom and kitchen sinks.
2 – Tyres
It would probably smell a bit, and in the summer it would probably melt. But for just a little while it would be an amazing home build entire from tyres. Yes, even the roof is made from them, and even the furniture inside!
1 – Bottles
Good news for all you wine drinkers, you are going to need to drink a lot more if you are planning on making a home afterwards out of them. I would imagine this looks just as amazing inside the home as well as the outside.
