10 – Onsie
Is this one of the very first onsies? Well I think so, but made from Terrycloth which is used to make towels and washable nappies!
9 – Smartphone
This is officially the worlds first smartphone! Well not so much a smart phone, more a land-line with options as you still had to plus it into the phone socket. I’ll take 2!
8 – RAM
Being a true nerd I have made the PC I am typing this on, and it contains 64GB of ram. Now if there is 1000 kilobytes in a megabyte, and a 1000 megabytes in a gigabyte you will start to understand just how far things really have come.
7 – Under Priced
If you thought the PC was silly and over sized, and the price was also silly and once again over sized, check out the disk for a program the guy has in his hand! Now that is what I call retro.
6 – A What?
There will be lots of people reading thing who will not have a clue what a modem was. It was a device to get onto the internet, it connected to the landline. Need more info? Ask your parents.
5 – Pain Relief
Not only were these products aimed at children, in other adverts they claimed to be able to heal cancer and liver disease! They really did contain cocaine, morphine and alcohol! and cost just 15 cents.
4 – Pullin for fun
Yeah this really was a real all be it tongue in check advert that Sega released. The idea was to bring in some older gamers, but it was treated as the joke it was and failed miserably. Do read the sales pitch in the words, its a real laugh out loud pitch.
3 – Home Cinema
Now days you can get a fairly large TV for not much at all, but back then a TV with a VCR was the stuff only millionaires could afford and this was the best of them.
2 – Hard to Swallow
The PC I am using now has 2TB of data in it. I have images of cats that are over 10 mb! But it was the price that scared me, it must have been made with gold!
1 – Santa Cigs
Yes there really was a time when people gave their family and friends cigarettes! These days the things seems to be vaping stuff. Looking back in 20 years from now that will probably make us laugh as well.
